After reaching the state 3A state softball playoffs for the first time as the Cedaredge Bruins, the Oct. 19 first-round playoff game with number five Eaton (14-8-1) was a sign of possible future playoff berths. The Lady Reds were winners, 6-0, but the fact remains, Cedaredge (14-8), and the western slope, was in the game until the end.
The WSL's top seed, Basalt (17-6 and number nine) was a winner in the opening round with a 15-1 decision over number eight La Junta (13-8).
Basalt advanced to face top-seeded Strasburg (now 22-0) for the right to move on to the semifinal round. Strasburg polished off the Longhorns with a score of 10-0 in five innings and faced Valley in the semifinals.blog comments powered by Disqus
