The Cedaredge High School boys basketball team lost a pair of 3A WSL games this past weekend, losing to Coal Ridge, (4-3 and 4-6) and Moffat County (4-1 and 6-2).
Coach Kevin Dunbar noted his team has been erratic of late with a lack of consistency.
The Bruins, after this past weekend, are resting in sixth place in the 3A WSL. Aspen (6-0 and 7-2) leads the league, with Moffat County, Grand Valley (5-2 and 6-4), Roaring Fork (4-2 and 4-5) and Coal Ridge listed above the Bruins.
Titans 46, Bruins 39
First-half scoring was not what the Bruins usually were capable of as Cedaredge scored just 12 points in the first 16 minutes to Coal Ridge's 20 points.
Cedaredge found some of its rhythm in the second half with a 16-point third quarter. The Titans kept pace with a 15-point effort and took a 35-28 lead to the final stanza.
Each team scored 11 points to make the final score 46-39.
Coal Ridge had three players in double figures with Andy Bowles leading the way with 12 points and Ely Arreola and Richie Winkler adding 10 apiece. Bowles had 12 rebounds and six blocked shots to pace the defensive efforts of the Titans.
Cedaredge got double-digit scoring from Trent Walker (14) and Corey Reynolds (10).
Bulldogs 78, Bruins 56
Cedaredge found itself unable to keep pace with the fast-paced tempo of the Moffat County Bulldogs on Saturday. An 18-9 start for Moffat County helped the Bulldogs cruise to a 34-17 halftime lead.
Second-half play was more even with the Bulldogs edging Cedaredge 44-39 to make the final score 78-56. A furious fourth quarter produced 55 points, with Moffat County winning the battle 29-26. Kort Hathorn was the game's leading scorer with 16 points, nine coming in the fourth quarter. Tyler Davis scored 15 counters for the Bulldogs and 13 came in the last period. Joe Camilletti had 10, giving Moffat County three players in double figures.
Cedaredge was led by Walker's 15, with Dillon Smith contributing 11 and Tylor Beach and Garrett Meyers adding 10 apiece.
The Bruins have lost four of their last five games and will be looking for a change in the coming games.
Cedaredge is scheduled for a pair of 3A WSL games this week, beginning with a trip to Carbondale to face the Roaring Fork Rams on Jan. 24. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Saturday's contest in Olathe has a 4 p.m. starting time, with junior varsity action preceding varsity play.
