Gates doubles up at meet

Gates won the event with a jump of 21-4.5 and was also a winner in the high jump with an effort of 6-4.The Cedaredge Bruins track teams enjoyed the past week's weather while participating in the Montrose Invitational. The boys' team, behind first-place performances from Reid Gates, scored 63 points and placed fourth.

Both have outstanding chances of going to state in the event.The Cedaredge track squad was successful at last weekend's Gunnison Invitational held on Saturday, April 20. The boys' team earned 84 points, and had five first-place finishes, to earn top honors in the team race.

Bruins 1-1 in baseball play

c07 chsbb1Photo by Wayne Crick Home plate umpire Dan Cholas looks on as Cedaredge’s Austin Gartman appears to have gotten under the tag of Coal Ridge’s catcher. Cholas, however, saw the play differently and called Gartman out on the play. The Bruins went on to score four runs late in the game for an 8-4 decision in 3A WSL prep baseball action.Cedaredge High School played two baseball games this past week. One game was at home against Coal Ridge on Tuesday, April 16, and ended in an 8-4 win for the Bruins.

Bruin baseball team sweeps Cardinals

The weather wreaked havoc with sports schedules this past week.

While many schools managed to get either part, or none, of their scheduled activities in, the Cedaredge Bruins were forced to postpone a double-header with Moffat County (in Craig) that was scheduled for April 13.
