Spring break for Delta County School District No. 50 kept several athletes from last week's track meet in Gunnison. Nonetheless, the Panthers finished fifth in the girls' team race with 45 points while the boys were sixth after scoring 46 points.
Paonia won the girls' division with 157 points while Cedaredge captured the boys' team title with 84 points.
There were two first-place winners for the Panthers. Zach Decker circled the oval in 53.06 to win the 400-meter dash and Dustin Ownbey made four circuits in a time of 4:49.59 to win the 1600-meter run.
Ownbey picked up a second place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:06.49 and Decker was third in the 200-meter dash with his time of 23.83. Jonathan Kinderknecht ran the 1600-meter race in a time of 4:57.13 to finish third.
Eian Baier cleared 5-8 in the high jump competition and placed fourth. Baier was eighth in triple jump.
Cleo Whiting was a winner in the 1600-meter run for Delta's lone first-place finish. Whiting won with a time of 5:33.81 with sister Clarissa placing second in a time of 5:33.94.
Bry Music had to settle for second place in shot put competition after throwing 36-3.5.
Clarissa Whiting crossed the finish line ahead of sister Cleo in the 800-meter run to place fourth, and Cleo was fifth.
Mykayla Music scored team points with a fourth-place finish in the 1600-meter run and sister Bry was fourth in discus.
Delta is scheduled to participate in this week's Montrose Invitational on Friday, April 26.
