The 2013 volleyball season has truly been an up-and-down year so far. Unfortunately, the downs have a majority result, leaving the Lady Panthers with a 3-9 overall mark and 1-4 in 4A WSL play.
Delta started with a win against Alamosa early in the season then lost three in a row before defeating Dolores. A four-match losing streak followed before a 3-2 win over Steamboat Springs on Sept. 21.
Losses to Battle Mountain and Summit last week have the Lady Panthers looking for their next win as they began the week with three matches on the schedule.
BM 3, Delta 0
The Lady Panthers were competitive in the first two sets of their match against Battle Mountain on Thursday.
Battle Mountain outscored Delta 25-18 in the first set and had to hold on for a 25-21 decision in set two.
The third set was all Battle Mountain in a 25-9 rout.
Summit 3, Delta 0
The visiting Lady Tigers were nearly matched in team records with Delta coming into Saturday's match. Even with the win, Summit now sports a 4-7 overall mark and is 2-2 in league play.
Delta was able to stay close to the Tigers in set one but fell 25-21. Set two was all Summit in a 25-11 loss.
The Lady Panthers actually held a slim lead in set three before losing momentum and falling 25-23.
Delta played at Glenwood Springs (5-6 and 2-2) on Tuesday before facing non-league foe Grand Valley (6-6 and 3-1) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Panthers finish the week at home against Eagle Valley on Saturday with varsity action set for 1 p.m.
