There were only two teams to go unbeaten at last weekend's CMU's Maverick Duals. Fruita had a perfect 5-0 mark as did Paonia's Eagles.
Several teams wrestled well and ended the day with 4-1 records. One of those teams was Delta's Panthers.
Stat collection for the tournament was less than productive in some cases and the only basic statistics that were available in most cases were the final scores for the five matches teams wrestled.
Delta's Panthers were successful on the day with four wins in five matches.
Delta opened with with Coal Ridge and won 11 of 14 matches to earn a 62-12 decision.
Against Moffat County, the Panthers won 10 matches and went on to post a 54-17 win over the Bulldogs.
Meeker provided the most resistance for the Panthers in a winning situation. The final score in the match was 47-28 with Delta winning eight matches.
Rifle was not a problem for the Panthers as they rolled to a 66-9 victory.
Delta's lone loss in competition on Saturday was to a tough Fruita Monument High School team. The two teams were nearly evenly matched with the final score, 39-36, bearing strong evidence to that fact.
The Panthers were originally scheduled to face Paonia on Thursday of this week, but that dual has been changed to Jan. 23 in Delta at 6 p.m.
Delta will face Durango on Friday in Delta with starting times of 6 and 7 p.m.
