The Delta County swim team hosted its first home meet of the season last Saturday, Jan. 4. New head coach Emily Gregory completed the initial meet for Delta with several favorable results.
Freshman Landre Whelan won the 200 yard freestyle event in a time of 2:24.63. Kelsie Hartman was fourth for the Lady Panthers.
Abby Vigil topped the field in the 200 yard IM with her winning time of 2:44.65.
Delta's 200 yard freestyle relay team was also a winner with a time of 2:10.70. Members of the team included Whelan, Hartman, Kaylee Dunham and Lydia Knutson.
Second place finishes went to Knutson (50 yard free), Vigil (100 yard butterfly) and Whelan (500 yard freestyle).
The Delta 200 yard medley relay team placed third. Members of the team included Jazmin Damazo, Dunham, Whelan and Knutson.
Knutson was also third in the 100 yard freestyle with Damazo and Dunham finishing third in the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard breaststroke respectively.
Hartman was fourth in the 200 yard freestyle as was the 200 yard freestyle team of Jessica Violett, Nadia Hall, Damazo and Ashley Ortega.
Ortega and Violett picked up fourth place finishes in the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard breaststroke respectively.
A trio of fifth places went to Hartman (100 yard freestyle), Hall (100 yard backstroke) and Laura Schmidt (100 yard breaststroke).
Sixth place finishes were earned by Ortega (50 yard freestyle) and Damazo (100 yard freestyle).
Schmidt and Violett picked up seventh place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle and Hall was seventh in the 100 yard freestyle.
Delta is home again on Feb. 1. The swim team is in Grand Junction, Feb. 7-8, for a league meet.blog comments powered by Disqus
