A team comprised of some of the area's top-ranked high school wrestlers will compete against a team from Germany in freestyle, or Olympic-style, wrestling this Saturday, March 30, at Central High School in Grand Junction. This style of wrestling varies from the style practiced in high school competition.
Terrell Banuelos and Marcus Velasquez of Montrose, Trenton Piatt, Austin Shank and Jacob Solseth of Olathe, Austin Todd of Cedaredge and Jesse Reed and Bo Pipher of Paonia will represent one of two Colorado USA teams at the duals.
The first dual between Team 1 and Germany begins at 10 a.m., and Team 2 will take on Germany at noon. Both duals will be preceded by a parade of teams.
Admission is $9 for both duals or $5 for one dual; student admission (must have student ID) is $4, and children ages 4 and under will be admitted for free. All pee-wee wrestlers with a team T-shirt and a paying parent are also free. For more information, contact Central wrestling coach Laurence Gurule at 261-4617.blog comments powered by Disqus
