The Lady Bulldogs volleyball squad played one of its best games of the season but came up short in a disappointing 3-1 homecoming loss on Friday against Meeker.
Following a first-match 25-23 loss, the Lady Bulldogs volleyball team was able to overcome a 16-6 deficit for the win in game two.
Brielle Palmer scored a kill shot to tie the game at 17 all. Hotchkiss pulled ahead by two, and Katie Richards sent a solid kill shot down the line to give Hotchkiss a 20-17 lead. Meeker called a timeout, and Lady Cowboy Ali Ridings sent a short-set cross-court kill shot onto the floor to bring Meeker within one.
Daryl Batt maintained the Bulldogs' lead with a kill shot from the middle. Meeker got the ball back and served into the net to trail 24-22, and Batt served an ace for the win.
Meeker won the final two matches, securing the victory.
Hotchkiss lost a non-conference match at Rifle (2-3 overall, 7-7 3A Western Slope League) on Oct. 3 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18).
The Lady Bulldogs will attempt to avenge an early-season 3-2 loss against Rangely's Panthers (5-10 overall, 2-4 2A WSL) Friday night at Rangely.
Hotchkiss will host its final home match of the season on Oct. 17, against Paonia, and finish league competition on the road against Soroco (1-12, 0-7) on Oct. 18, and Plateau Valley (8-5, 2-2) on Oct. 19.blog comments powered by Disqus
