Losses end playoff runs for Eagles, Bulldogs

Both North Fork baseball teams were eliminated from the 2A state bracket after losing their opening games Saturday at their respective regional tournaments.

Hotchkiss was seeded 16th in the 16-team bracket.

b08 phstrPhoto by Rich Meck Paonia’s 1600m relay team of: l-r, Jesse Reed, Taylor Walters, Jeramiah Hillman, and Josiah Spano placed sixth at state after being ranked ninth before the state meet began. Reed came to the meet as an alternate and ended up running on both the 1600m and 3200m teams.

Paonia girls 2A track titlists

Lindsay Russell (far left), Ce’rra Carsten (second from left, with trophy), and Chelsy Reed (second from right) are all seniors and four-year team members.The Paonia girls' track team placed in 13 events and set two state 2A meet records to win the 2013 Colorado State Track and Field Championships in Lakewood.

This is the first state track title for Paonia High School.
