Cedaredge resident Jerry Lee Bentley died July 9, 2017, at his home. He was 78.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, at the Eckert Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Bentley was born June 4, 1939, to Herbert and Minnie (Chapman) Bentley in Waterloo, Iowa. He spent his childhood and attended school in Waterloo.
On May 16, 1973, he married Ruth Elaine Duff in Denver. The couple merged two families together, raising five out of six children together.
Mr. Bentley worked for the Coors Brewery for many years. He belonged to the ABA and NRA. He enjoyed collecting various things, hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ruth Bentley; four sons, Robert Bentley, Rodney Bentley, Roger Bentley and Steve Duff; two daughters, Marilyn Webber and Cindy Williams; two brothers, Paul Bentley and Charlie Bentley; two sisters, Sharon Heyer and Marlys Larson; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bentley was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence and John Bentley; daughter, Laura Duff; and granddaughter, Amanda Bentley.

Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
