Pioneer Town's Heritage Day on Saturday, May 27, marked the official beginning of the summer season in Surface Creek Valley.
There was a big turnout of local history and pioneer heritage fans who enjoyed mild weather and sunshine.
This coming Saturday, May 27, is one of Surface Creek Valley's biggest celebrations of its proud history and of its rugged and visionary pioneer founders -- Heritage Day at Pioneer Town.
The day of special events also marks the official season opening of Pioneer Town.
The sixth annual Outdoor Heritage Day will be held in Confluence Park Saturday, June 3. This free event will feature exhibitors highlighting outdoor sports and recreation for all ages.

This year the Byways Welcome Center will be joining Pioneer Town's two community events venues -- Chapel of the Cross and The Stolte Shed -- as a focus of community activity and events held regularly through the summer months.
The official season opening of the valley's community gathering place, events center, and tourism and economic development showcase -- Pioneer Town -- is coming this Saturday with main events taking place throughout the 25-building complex from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The day's activities will get off right with a VFW pancake breakfast in the Stolte Shed beginning at 7 a.m.
