Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3571 and its Auxiliary recently honored the hometown heroes of the Delta area with an awards dinner to celebrate Loyalty Day.
Members of Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3571 and its Auxiliary, assisted by members of the American Legion and cadets of the local squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, celebrated Earth Day and Arbor Day by planting a blue spruce at the First Baptist Church in Delta Sunday, April 22.
VFW Post #3571 of Delta and the VFW Auxiliary are planning a new event -- a horseshoe and corn hole tournament to take place Saturday, June 9, at Cleland Park in Delta.
The veterans organizations are seeking sponsors for this event, which is a fundraiser for a new building in North Delta.
Lee Marts VFW Post 3571, its Auxiliary, and the Delta Library are teaming up again to help supply deployed active duty military men and women with "goodie boxes" from home.

The memorial is a chain saw carving of the Soldier's Cross - also called a Battle Cross, Fallen Soldier Battle Cross or Battlefield Cross.

Members of VFW Post 3571 in Delta and 784 in Montrose met an aircraft with three aircrew and over 1,000 pounds of food and toys for distribution to veterans in the Montrose and Delta area. The crew flew the aircraft to Montrose Regional Airport from Centennial Airport near Denver Wednesday, Dec. 23, as part of the annual CABA/VFW holiday airlift project.
