Cedaredge trustees are in discussions about water and sewer rates, and hosted a meeting recently to reveal the results of a comparative rate study.
The town board will consider a resolution on changes to its water and sewer rates at the June 15 regular business meeting.
A special public information meeting to discuss results of a water and sewer rate study for the Town of Cedaredge will be held on Wednesday, May 24, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Community (Civic) Center.
According to a town hall staff memo, the study looks at "revenue requirements necessary to comprehensively determine cost of service and rates for domestic water service including raw water collection, water treatment, water distribution and service and wastewater treatment including sanitary sewage collection and treatment."
Paonia water customers can expect to see an increase in their utility bill beginning in March. At the Jan. 10 board meeting, trustees approved a 2-percent increase in water user fees and base rates.
Paonia town trustees were unable to adopt new water and sewer rates at the Dec. 13 meeting after tabling discussion of the ordinances needed to pass them by resolution.
The ordinances would replace the town's existing water and wastewater ordinances and would allow the town to adopt changes in base rates and user charges, with the exception of water and wastewater tap fees, by resolution.
