July 17:

Alexander P. Fultz, 23, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged possession of a weapon by a previous offender, unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Talin V.L. Smith, 30, of Grand Junction was arrested and jailed on two warrants with no bond.

Darren R. Sebree, 50, of Montrose was issued a ticket for alleged following too closely after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 at H-38 Road. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Clinton W. Atherton, 32, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting.

July 18:

Justin T.E. Hiatt, 29, of Eckert was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment and violation of a protection order.

John S. Beres, 58, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment and third degree criminal trespass.

July 19:

Beth A. Bickford, 62, of Eckert was issued a ticket for alleged failure to yield right of way when proceeding from a stop sign after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on E. 7th Street at Pioneer Road. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

July 20:

Cameron M. Haines, 19, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harboring a minor (run-away) x4, contributing to the delinquency of a minor x4, false reporting to authorities and aiding escape.

July 21:

Pagan B. Van Sant, 18, of Olathe was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving causing injury, drove a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license and operated an uninsured motor vehicle after being involved in a single vehicle crash on Highway 50 near mile marker 66. Both persons in the vehicle sustained non life-threatening injuries and were transported by the Delta Ambulance District to Delta County Memorial Hospital for treatment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Summer R. Van Sant, 38, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged permitting an unlicensed person to drive a motor vehicle.

Heather R. Reza, 40, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $750 bond.

July 22:

Guillermo Medina-Holguin, 29, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with no bond.

Larissa J. Atchley, 46, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving causing injury after being involved in a crash with a motorcycle at 101 N. Main (Wendy's/ Bradley's parking lot). One person was injured and transported by the Delta Ambulance District to Delta County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Neither vehicle was towed from the scene.

Nathan D. Montez, 33, of Montrose was arrested and jailed for alleged criminal mischief.

July 23:

Uriel F. Jaracuaro-Bautista, 23, of Montrose was arrested and jailed for alleged disregarded a stop sign and DUI.

Chayse D. Roy, 18, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged obstructing a peace officer.

Citations: Thirteen tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, two for speeding.

From the Delta County Sheriff's Office (partial list):

July 17:

A rural Delta resident reported the theft of two guns, a .270 rifle and a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol.

What was reported as a house "exploding" was likely a greenhouse that was destroyed by a fire on Grange Road, Paonia, at about 2 p.m. A small two-bedroom residence was also destroyed. Samuel Moulin was issued a summons for burning on a red flag day, a county violation, and fourth degree arson, in violation of a state statute. Deputies determined he had been burning cardboard in a burn barrel.

A burglary was reported by a resident of Q50 Road, Cedaredge. While the homeowner was away, an intruder apparently crawled through a window of the home. Missing items included a wallet containing about $220 cash and credit cards, jewelry and a $700 Martin DX1E guitar. The case is under investigation.

July 19:

Two bicycles were reported stolen from a home on F Road.

Deputies were asked to intervene in a neighborhood dispute over road access that's been going on for seven years.

July 20:

Shortly after midnight, a neighbor reported a tree on fire just off 2200 Road. When deputies and firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire had spread to an unoccupied home owned by Dr. James Clark. The home was a total loss. Lightning appears to be the likely cause of the fire.

At 2:43 a.m., deputies and firefighters responded to a home on Old Wagon Road, Delta, for a small electrical fire that triggered the smoke alarm.

July 21:

The theft of $1,500 was reported from an elderly woman's safe. The complainant accused her sister of the theft.

A substantial amount of white smoke was reported on Peach Valley Road at about 3 p.m. Vinton Cannon had called the burn line and received the go-ahead for an agricultural burn, but high winds moved in and the fire got away from home. About two acres of grass were burned.

A Hotchkiss man escaped injury when his 2014 Chevy Cruz began hydroplaning on Highway 50 near the Escalante Canyon Road and slid into a semi.

The theft of a 1987 Austin motor home was reported from Eckert. Deputies determined the camper was collateral for a loan. The owner was advised to seek a civil remedy.
