An Orchard City resident out for a run came across a brand new purse with just the keys in it. He turned the found property over to sheriff's deputies.

Oct. 19:

A REDDI (Report Every Drunk Drive Immediately) was called in for a woman leaving the Desperado convenience store south of Crawford. Deputies were en route to the area when the Colorado State Patrol responded to an accident involving the same vehicle described in the REDDI report. The driver, Kimberly Vernon, 59, reportedly hit a planter, a parked car and a power pole near a residence at 464 Elm, Crawford. She was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital, then to the jail where charges were expected to be filed.

At about 7 p.m., a REDDI report was received about a silver Chevy swerving on the roadway in the area of Highway 92 and 3100 Road. A short time later, the vehicle was involved in a one-vehicle rollover. Charges are pending against Bertha Martin, 60, of Paonia.

Deputies assisted the Colorado State Patrol at the scene of a one-vehicle accident on Highway 92 near Crawford. A gold 1999 Jeep Cherokee wound up several hundred feet off the roadway with significant front end damage. The driver, Jessica Lerman, 28, of Utah was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital.

The body of Kenny Wallace, 63, was discovered by a friend in a camper near Eagle Point Road. It appears Wallace died of natural causes. Earlier this month, a warrant was issued for Wallace's arrest after deputies located five pounds of suspected methamphetamine and about $21,000 in cash at Wallace's Austin residence.
