I would like to start out thanking the DCI for a well written article about City of Delta ballot measure 2-B on the November ballot. 2-B is asking for a half cent increase in a dedicated tax to help support the rec center, parks and trails, the flower program and the golf course.
If passed, this will be the first sales tax increase in 27 years. With the passing of this issue the utilities department will no longer transfer monies to support the golf course. This has been a concern to many citizens over the years. The half penny in sales tax will be paid by everyone who shops in the city and would include visitors and county residents who shop in our beautiful city.
If you have questions or concerns I would like to invite you to an informal information session on Thursday, Oct. 4, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Fellowship hall where the group half penny for parks and recreation will be on hand to present info and city staff will help answer questions. I am asking for you to vote YES on 2-B. Ballots will be mailed on the week of Oct. 15.
