The Friends and Flower Garden Club appreciates the generous donation of a Ukrainian maple tree and a juniper pine tree from John and Ron Romatzke of Arbor Acres Farm. These trees were planted in the Orchard City Town Park in memory of Bobbie De Leau and Zoe Weiss.
Soon, a plaque will be placed by each tree, in their memory.
The Friends and Flower Garden Club also thanks David Boyd from the Parks Department of Orchard City for planting the trees and for their future care. Club members hope everyone who visits the park will take notice, enjoy these trees, and the shade they will provide.
The Friends and Flower Garden Club is a small group of ladies from Delta, Cedaredge and Orchard City who meet monthly, at a member's house. During meetings ladies may enjoy a presentation, or an outing, and, of course, social time with dessert, coffee or tea. They also plant and maintain gardens at Horizons Care Center in Eckert each summer.
Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
