Myron B. Bennett, longtime Eckert resident, died March 1, 2017, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at a future date at Calvary Baptist Church in Delta with Rev. Greg Teel officiating. Burial has taken place in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Crawford.
Mr. Bennett was born in Towner July 13, 1933, to Fred Bennett and Evelyn Clapper. He moved to Crawford when he was five years old and graduated from Crawford High School in 1951.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan.
On Dec. 27, 1953, he married Connie Rae Frey in Crawford. After he returned home from the Army, they moved to Uravan, where he worked for Union Carbide for almost 29 years. Mr. Bennett received early retirement and the family moved to Eckert in 1983.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school classes for many years. He played the mandolin in the worship team at Calvary Baptist Church. His faith was very important to him.
He was a Little League coach in Uravan, where he acquired his nickname, "Mr. B." He also enjoyed hunting, working in the yard, playing baseball and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Bennett of Eckert; son, Bruce (Charlene) Bennett of Delta; daughter, Cheryl Mier of Broomfield; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son; a sister, Phyllis Gilmore; two brothers, Bill and Galen Bennett; and son-in-law, Johnny Mier.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, alcohol is suspected in an accident that killed a 16-year-old Delta boy and injured three others June 11. The accident occurred on Highway 65 just a short distance from the Highway 92 intersection at about 1:35 a.m.
