Pauline Karcher was born to Merle Lee (a barber) and Thelma Pauline (Berga) Karcher at her grandma's house in Newport, Ohio, on April 6, 1927. She was the second of nine children. Pauline was a diligent help to her mother in caring for the home and her siblings and was an excellent student.
In the summer of 1944, 17-year-old Pauline met John Robert "Bob" Stoody at a church youth meeting. Bob was working on a mink ranch in Colorado. They corresponded during her senior year of high school. On June 3, 1945, three days after her graduation, they were married in a church wedding in Marietta, Ohio, where his father was the Methodist minister.
They came to Delta, Colo., built a very successful mink ranching business and raised two children, Monica Lynn and John Robert II.
She died on Feb. 20, 2018, in Fort Collins, Colo. Both children survive. There are seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, four brothers and two sisters. Two sisters, Jacquiline Brown and Tanya (Jim) Lenhart survive.
A family memorial service was held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Mesa View Cemetery, where she was laid to rest beside her husband, Bob.
Our gratitude to Taylor Funeral Service & Crematory for arrangements.
