Mark your calendar for events at Cedaredge's historic Pioneer Town.
The Night on the Town event is set for Saturday, June 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. As with past years, the family fun night includes live music, games, and refreshments including beer brats and hotdogs. There will be a honky tonk piano and card tricks in the saloon. A scavenger hunt, roaming cowboys, and a silent auction will round out the raucous evening.
The Chapel of the Cross summer concert series continues June through August. Upcoming artists for this month are:
June 21 at 7 p.m. -- The Solar Brothers, guitar and vocals.
June 24 at 4 p.m. -- The Scones, rockin' American music from the 1960s.
June 28 at 7 p.m. -- Shelley Ray, guitar and vocals
Pioneer Town opened its doors in 1981 as a living history village with a gift shop, museums, and twenty-five historic buildings on five acres. The site is owned and operated by the Surface Creek Valley Historical Society which is actively seeking new members. Members receive a quarterly newsletter and free admission to Pioneer Town events.
Pioneer Town is open from Memorial Day weekend through the first weekend of October, Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. To learn more about the Surface Creek Valley Historical Society and Pioneer Town visit their website: https://www.pioneertown.org.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
