In the historic year of the Fatima Centennial (1917-2017), St. Michael Catholic Church is holding a public square rosary crusade. Please join in praying for our nation at 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 24, in the grassy area near the Lions Pavilion in Confluence Park.
Our nation is in great need of public prayer, repentance and conversation. In this historic year, we ask God to save America through the Rosary of His Most Holy Mother. More information is available from Bonnie Baier, 874-0907.
A brief history of the Miracle at Fatima:
The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal, between May 13 and Oct. 13, 1917. Appearing to the children, the Blessed Mother told them she had been sent by God with a message for all mankind. She asked the children to pray the Rosary every day for the reparation of sins and peace in the world. She promised that God would work a great miracle the following October "so that all may believe." On Oct. 13, 1917, in the presence of 70,000 eyewitnesses, a miracle was worked in the sky above Fatima. Witnesses recounted that the sun appeared to actually "dance" in the sky and seemed to fall to the ground before resuming its normal place in the heavens. This event is known as "The Miracle of the Sun."
