A special public information meeting to discuss results of a water and sewer rate study for the Town of Cedaredge will be held on Wednesday, May 24, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Community (Civic) Center.
According to a town hall staff memo, the study looks at "revenue requirements necessary to comprehensively determine cost of service and rates for domestic water service including raw water collection, water treatment, water distribution and service and wastewater treatment including sanitary sewage collection and treatment."
There will be no decisions on local water/sewer rates made at the May 24 meeting. According to staff, "Any decision on rate changes will be in June at the earliest," states the memo.
Some results of the study compare Cedaredge's rates with those statewide. As a sampling of those results shown below are comparisons for in-town municipal utility customers:
• Tap fees: single-family water; Cedaredge $8,000, state median $6,450. Single-family sewer; Cedaredge $4,000, state median $4,500.
• Water rates: monthly single-family water bill for 10,000 gallons; Cedaredge, $37.24, state median $48.57.
• Sewer rates: monthly single-family sewer bill; Cedaredge $33.20, state median $32.00.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
