Rodeo action is heating up in western Colorado. The Delta Area Chamber of Commerce is selling tickets for the Deltarado Days rodeo Saturday, July 29, which will include a free concert by Derringer at the conclusion of competition.
In Hotchkiss, a junior rodeo will be held at the fairgrounds this Saturday at 10 a.m. As the official opening of the Delta County Fair approaches, there will be horse events and a ranch rodeo. On Saturday, Aug. 12, don't miss the Flower Motor Company Rodeo, JC Propane team roping, saddle shoot-out finals and the 2017 fair royalty coronation.
Flower Motor Company is also a presenting sponsor for the July 21 and 22 Colorado Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) Rodeo, held in conjunction with the Montrose County Fair and Rodeo. This year, the event has also received the prestigious "Ram Rodeo" designation.
The Ram Rodeo designation is given to a limited number of rodeos each year. One of the great draws for those attending the rodeo is the chance to win a $70,000 voucher to be given away at the end of the year by Ram Rodeo, toward a Ram truck of the winner's choosing. Individuals choosing to participate will be entered into the national drawing to be awarded at the end of the year from entries drawn at each Ram Rodeo. Additionally, there will be a drawing for a custom-designed Montana Silversmith's belt buckle to be given away at the rodeo.
Tickets and a fair schedule are available online at montrosecountyfairandrodeo.com. A ticket bundle includes both nights of rodeo action, a ticket for Moto Mayhem, and a ticket for the Emerson Drive concert for just $35.

Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
