Delta resident Roy Bernard Norris died April 7, 2017, at Crossroads at Delta. He was 99.
Services will be held at a later date in Omaha, Neb.
He was born Jan. 8, 1918, to Roy and Lena (Theis) Norris in Omaha, Neb. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Omaha.
Mr. Norris served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed on Attu Island in the Aleutian Islands. After being discharged, he attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from Colorado State University.
On Aug. 12, 1942, he married Harriette Hindman in New Brunswick, N.J. They shared 58 years of marriage before her death in July 1999.
Mr. Norris worked for Omar Bakery in Omaha and was a purchasing agent for Sperry/Vickers in Omaha, Neb. Mr. Norris was a Mason and a Shriner and served on the county election board in Omaha. He was also president of the Omaha Stockyards Saddle Club and was a 4-H horse club leader. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on his acreage and caring for animals.
Mr. Norris is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Dick, DVM) Steele of Delta.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his brother, Louis.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
