Nuclear Care Partners is hosting a National Day of Remembrance celebration to honor former AEC Compound and uranium workers for the work they did to bolster the country's nuclear defense and keep Americans safe.

Friends of the Paonia Library are hosting their annual fall book sale at the Paonia Library on Friday, Oct. 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fill a bag with books and other materials for $5 and purchase DVDs or CDs for $1 each.

Traveling Gourds poetry tour to make Paonia stop

"Giving poets exposure to audiences in far-flung Colorado communities, and giving local audiences examples of performance poetry in action, has been the motivating impulse behind the Telluride Institute's Traveling Gourds Tour," explained Talking Gourds co-director, Art Goodtimes.

Luis Lopez of Grand Junction and Val Szarek of Louisville, will share the spotlight as featured guest poets in Telluride, Norwood, Paonia and Fruita, Oct. 24-27.
