Senior CommUnity meals are served at four dining sites in Delta County -- Cedaredge Community Center (Monday-Thursday), Delta Community Center (Monday-Friday), Hotchkiss Senior Center (Monday-Thursday) and Paonia Senior Citizen Center (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Meals on Wheels are also delivered from each location. Wednesday, May 3 -- Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, Oriental blend veggies, creamy fruit, wheat roll, cake and a quarter of an orange.
Thursday, May 4 -- Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, chateau vegetables, V-8 juice, onion-rye roll and bread pudding.
Friday, May 5 -- Chicken enchilada casserole, diced tomatoes, sour cream, mixed greens, summer squash mix, refried beans and churro.
Monday, May 8 -- Barbecue beef, coleslaw, baked beans, western corn and banana.
Tuesday, May 9 -- Oven-fried chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, creamy cucumber salad, carrots and zucchini, buttermilk biscuit and fresh fruit dessert.
Wednesday, May 10 -- Spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, Italian blend vegetables, garlic breadstick and cinnamon applesauce.
Thursday, May 11 -- Roast turkey with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, broccoli, breadstick and pineapple right-side-up cake.
Friday, May 12 -- Beef patty with carrot and onion gravy over brown rice, roll, cottage cheese and peach salad, green beans and ice cream.
Monday, May 15 -- Beef burrito, lettuce/onion/tomato, green chili sauce, refried beans, western corn, half an orange and oatmeal raisin cookie.
Tuesday, May 16 -- Baked paprika chicken, creamy brown rice with mushrooms, mandarin spinach salad, California blend vegetables and morning glory muffin.
Wednesday, May 17 -- Ham loaf, baked sweet potato, tomato cucumber salad, peas and apple crisp.
Thursday, May 18 -- Turkey ala king over brown rice, Scandinavian blend vegetables, cranberry juice, rye roll and sunset yogurt dessert.
Friday, May 19 -- Lasagna with beef, mixed vegetables, tossed salad, garlic bread and peach cobbler.
Monday, May 22 -- Tuna salad plate, crackers, black bean salad and deluxe banana pudding.
Tuesday, May 23 -- Ground beef stroganoff over egg noodles, kidney bean salad, Italian stewed tomatoes, onion roll and half an orange.
Wednesday, May 24 -- Oven-fried chicken thighs, parsley buttered potatoes, mandarin orange salad, green beans, roll and royal brownie.
Thursday, May 25 -- Meat loaf with tomato glaze, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrot-raisin salad, Harvard beets, mandarin oranges and cinnamon knots.
Friday, May 26 -- Garlic herb fish, baked potato, garden slaw, broccoli and lemon pie cookie bar.
Monday, May 29 -- Happy Memorial Day.
Tuesday, May 30 -- Chicken pot pie, tomato sweet onion salad, green beans, roll and peach cobbler.
Wednesday, May 31 -- Beef tips with mushroom gravy over egg noodles, wax beans with red pepper, pea and cheese salad, oatmeal roll and pears.
Thanks to the efforts of state Rep. Millie Hamner, House District 61, Colorado State University plans to re-open the Rogers Mesa research site.
The facility was taken out of operation in 2011, due to budget cuts throughout the CSU system.
