The Nature Connection and Fort Uncompahgre are teaming up to offer "Adventure of the 1830s" camps. Activities include orienteering, shelter building, fishing, crafts and games. Go on a scavenger hunt and learn how to shoot a bow and arrow and throw a tomahawk.
July 9-11 and July 23-25 are set aside for third, fourth and fifth graders.
Camps July 16-18 and July 30-Aug. 1 are open to fifth, sixth and seventh graders.
All camps run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are limited to 20 participants.
Camps will be held at Fort Uncompahgre, located at 440 Palmer Street in Delta.
The cost is $75 for each camp. To register, call Mike Chastain at 874-8349.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
