Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3571 and its Auxiliary hosted their fifth annual golf tournament on Saturday, May 20, Armed Forces Day, at the Devil's Thumb Golf Course. All teams were awarded participation mugs and a delicious lunch prepared by the post and auxiliary members.
First place went to the team Applegate, Kelly, Stone and Eades, scoring 59. Closely following with a score of 62 was the team of Thompson, Thompson, Novotny and Giodullo in second, and with a score of 66 third place was tied down by the team of Dedenberg, Morgan, Scroggs and Henry.
The free hole-in-one car provided by Bill Hellman Ford was driven back to the dealership after sitting on the green, observing nobody coming close to that hole-in-one for the entire morning.
All profits from the tournament will go into Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars building fund for the veterans and community center.
At their March 5 meeting Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes made two appointments to the county planning commission. Steve Shea was reappointed for a three-year term.
