Paonia resident Victor George Woods died Nov. 20, 2017, at his home. He was 54.
A graveside service was held Nov. 25 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia. A public memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 30. A Facebook event page has been created for more information.
Mr. Woods was born Sept. 16, 1963, to Lyle and Patricia (Gehle) Woods in Decatur, Ill. He spent his summers on Lake Ossawinnamakee in Minnesota.
On Sept. 16, 1987, he married Kay Helgeson in Carbondale.
After Mr. Woods was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he worked in a music store and in construction; in addition, he was a master drywaller. He was also an artist, author, musician, song writer, historian and teacher. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was a devout Baha'i; he studied, taught and wrote about the Baha'i faith.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kay Woods; mother, Patricia Woods; three daughters, Moriah, Willow and Shirah Woods; a brother, Creston Woods; and two sisters, Gaylee Ledour and Tricia Buie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Woods.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
